Departmental Profile:
The Department of English has been functional since the inception of the College in 1987 and affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Based on the strength of the students on rolls, two posts are sanctioned and two regular lecturers are working.
The Dept. of English is one of the vibrant and resourceful departments in the College. Besides teaching General English part I(A) and part I(C) of Foundation courses (w. e. f from 2016-17) comprising Communication and Soft skills to all I &II year UG students (B. A/B. Com/B.Sc.), currently in their first semester, human values and professional ethics course is being taught as foundation course. The department extends its service to the Curricular, Co-Curricular, Extracurricular, Institutional Administrative activities of the college. English language instruction in the department aims at the students learning, particularly on the basic skills of learning i.e., listening, speaking, reading and writing is focused to use English for academic and professional purposes. In addition to these, the department has an essential responsibility for helping students develop their ability to use English in day-to-day conversations.
Through the Jawahar knowledge Centre, the department is striving its best to impart survival, life skills, telephone etiquette, communication skills, net etiquette and employability skills among the students.

Aims and Objectives of the Course
I semester:
Aims: To provide language skills i.e., listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Objectives: Focusing on the subskills, techniques, activities, practicing, of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Learning grammar skills and practicing.
II Semester:
Aims:To inculcate reading skills, comprehending, repository of vocabulary and writing strategies.
