Department of Economics

History of the Department:

Department of Economics S.G.A. Government Degree College, Yellamanchili   Anakapalli District is established in 1987. The department is catering the educational needs of Yellamanchili, Rambilli, Atchutapuram, S.Rayavaram and Nakkapalli Mandals of Anakapalli District of Andhra Pradesh. It is a co-educational course offering services to under graduate. The college was initially in the Government Junior college campus of Yellamanchili offer with H.E.P (History, Economics & Politics) in Telugu medium with a sanctioned strength of 60.

Initially there were three lecturers in the Department later in the year 1999 Restructured and courses in Economics subject was introduced i.e. Rural Industrialization and Rural Development. Hence the Economics Department is with one lecturer and Rural Industrialization and Rural Development each with one lecturer. Now BA HERI (History, Economics and Rural Industrialization) the Restructured course is being run with 30 seats.

Objectives of the Department of Economics:

Economics is the Most important subject among the social science,  its study helps to solve all the basic problems of the society; the whole mankind particularly those pertaining to human needs in day to day life at all levels – Individual, Social, Local , Regional, National, and Internaational. Today  it determine the  fates of entire people in the world, so the subject of  Economics treated  as Global  subject as it  find out the causes of day to day  Economic problems  and given amicable solutions to those problems.

India is emerging as one of the important nations in the world in the era of globalization, is in need of skill oriented, knowledge oriented and committed youngsters in the field of financial sector. “Economics being the Queen of Social Sciences forms the bases for obtaining knowledge in the field of finance”. The need for application of principles of economics separately need not be highlighted. Against this background the Department of Economics S.G.A Government Degree College intended to Utility of Economics. The Following Specific objectives are visualized for met the above needs.

        To draw out, cultivate excite and inspire the full development of each student in the subject of economics.

        To Expose the students of Economics at the under graduate level to various areas in the theory of Economics

        To the students to speak of different concepts of their interest in the subject.

          To improve the skills of students by rearranging field trips to different financial institutions such as nationalized banks, Co-operative societies and Life Insurance Corporation.

        To develop the orientation of students towards becoming financial exports of the future.

        To create a community of scholars where research, curiosity, free enquiry and discovery of advanced knowledge about Economics.

        To help students in understanding the stage of Indian Economy and problems such as unemployment poverty, regional disparities etc. which is very much essential for them.

        To train students not only for job oriented competitive examinations but also entrance tests like PG CET, Central University CET etc.,

        To give details in the field of pure and Applied Economics in depth which is a necessitating factor for understand the meaning and significance of Economics.

        To produce use full men and women in many professions like civil servants financial secretaries and many others engaged in various sectors of the economy.

        Give advice to the students who have little or no knowledge of economics in which Economics matters have so important place in the present day.

        Giving an analytical Account of theories and issues and cover subject matter systematically and lucidly so that an average student can easily  understand it in a proper perspective by developing an integrated
