Department of Physical Education

Physical education means providing education related to the body. The purpose of providing physical education is not only to keep the students physically healthy but also to make them mentally fit for any challenge.Physical education is the means of education that affects the students in all forms of mental, social, intellectual, economic and also develops the muscles of the students.

S.G.A Govt. Degree College was established during the year 1987 with 6.27 acres of land in the Heart of Yellamanchil Town. Our college has been striving for games & sports excellence and at the same time sponsoring variety of activities that would contribute to the whole some development of personality and promote health among students.

The Department of Physical Education is organizing the sports programmes on in basis of practice followed by administrative heads derived, Guidelines from Association of Indian university and other sports agencies. Now we are working on to establish new sports policy which can carry out the students sports activity smoothly also it needs to effective functioning of the department achieve derived goals.

Objective of the Department

• To promote student sports participation and to create awareness about the benefits of Physical Education & sports culture among students.
• To identify Sports talents at in college level and groom them as better performers.
• Тo provide incentives and awards to the elight Sports students to maintain sustainable sports interest among students to participate and perform progressively.
• To involve Alumni other sports agency raising purely for the development of college sports infrastructure like, Gym, track & field, play field.
• To provide systematic coaching by involving qualified land competent personal, to prepare college teams.

Sports Infrastructures facilities available currently

1. Gymnasium with & Multistation unit consists of 8 stations.
2. Indoor facility for carroms, & chess events.
3. Separate Room for the Department of physical education.
4. cement Basketball court.
5. Clay Volleyball court.
6. Honey play field.
7. Football play field.
8. 200Mtrs Athletic Track for all  Running, Jumping and Throwing events
9. Cricket Ground etc.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

1.     Constitution of sports committees at the beginning of every Academic year.

2.     Organizing periodical meetings once in every quarter to make necessary resolutions for the smooth functioning of the Department.

3.     Periodical Circular will be sent to all classes to create awareness and to pass on accurate information to all student groups from time to time and when required.

4.     Conduct selection trials for all games and sports events in order to identify talent among students and to select college teams every year for participation in various competitions.

5.     The Department will organize all National functions like Independence Day, Republic Day, etc every year to create sense of unity and harmony among students.

6.     Intramural Games & Sport Competitions Conducted will be conducted twice every year to create interest toward participation in competitions and to attract more students to Games & sports.

7.     Prize & merit certificates will be distributed to all the winners on the occasion of Annual Sports Day, Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations

8.     Conduct coaching camps for all the teams of our college in view of effective participation in District/ State / National Competitions

9.     Conduct of periodical awareness programs among students to motivate more students to take up at least any one sporting event.

10. Conduct of periodical campus cleaning program to create a sense of responsibility, discipline among students in order to maintain hygienic atmosphere in the campus
