The College was established in the year 1987. The college was named after eminent social reformer, educationalist and modern age poet Sri Gurajada Apparao. The college is catering to the educational needs of rural students in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. It is a Co-educational college offering under graduate and post graduate courses with a total student strength of 545. At present, the college has 19 regular faculty members. The college is offering 05 undergraduate courses and 01 postgraduate course (MCom).
The college was accredited (cycle-2) by NAAC with A grade(CGPA 3.03) in March-2015. Following the guidelines of NAAC, IQAC was established on 01-06-2006. The college has Jawahar Knowledge Center(JKC), English Language Lab(ELL), Virtual class room, Digital class rooms and well equipped science labs. Existing infrastructure was upgraded and new infrastructure was constructed using the financial assistance (Rs. 2.00 crores) received under RUSA(Phase-1).
The library has internet facility and e-corner. The Physical education department is well established and has gymnasium.
